John ("Jack") E Bowman, age 65, of Lower Township passed away peacefully Friday, December 5, 2014. Jack was born in Cape May Court House on June 23, 1949. He was a life-long resident of Lower Township. He is the son of the late Ellery M Bowman and the late Olga Dorothy (Mandze) Bowman. Jack was an accomplished athlete at Lower Cape May Regional High School where he was on the wrestling team, track & field team, baseball team, and was an all-state football player. He attended Virginia Tech University where he also played Division I football. After college he returned to Cape May where he married his high school sweetheart, Pat Band. Jack's generosity was known by friends and business associates alike. He was a well known residential home builder, developer, and co-owner of Bowman Builders with his brother Bud. A fierce competitor, Jack loved spending his free time playing tennis, cards, and racing his sailboat. He was a member of the Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May, the Cape May Tennis Club and the Sportsman's Club of Cape May Point. Jack loved music, dancing and made us laugh telling stories of his unforgettable mishaps. Jack will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Patricia (nee Band) Bowman, his daughter Jessica (Dave) Walker, and his son Lance (Kelly) Bowman. Also surviving are: his sister Carol (Herb) Hood, his brother Morris ("Bud") (Vera) Bowman, and his five grandchildren: Ethan, Colin, Justin, Chase, & Bryan. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ; where friends will be received from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Interment will be private.
