John C. "Jack" Winter Jr., age 59, of Rio Grande passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 as the result of a motor vehicle accident. John was born December 3, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA.; but has been a Cape May area resident most of his life. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and later served in the National Guard. Jack was employed by the Cape May County Road Department and Raff's Recycling in Cape May Court House as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He was a "Jack of all Trades" and a handyman; and could fix anything! Jack was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Erma, the Sportsman's Gun Club of Villas, was an avid fisherman, and was active in the Lower Township Recreation Center where he coached multiple sports. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda earlier this year. Jack is survived by his sons: John C Winter, III and Sean (Carrie) Winter; his mother Joyce Winter; his brothers: Ronald (Tammy) Winter & Robert (Joan) Winter; and his sisters: Debra (Mark) Spelbrink & Harriet (Russell) Norcross. Also surviving are his three grandsons: John IV "JC", Logan, and Ethan. There will be a Memorial Service at 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment will follow the service at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
