OBITUARY
Somers Corson age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2012. He was born, Jan. 20, 1923 in Ocean City, NJ to Mary and Somers Corson. He was a lifelong resident of Upper Twp. and spent the last years in his home which was one of the original stage coach inns in Cape May Co. Somers attended Tuckahoe Grade School and graduated from Ocean City High School in 1939. He was a graduate of Houghton College in New York. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during WW II with the 485th Bomb Group. Somers was a lifelong member of Seaville U.M. Church and was associated with many churches in Cape May Co. He served as superintendant and caretaker of the Seaville U.M. Cemetery from the time he was 12 years old to recent years. Somers served on many boards in Cape May Co. including Head of the River, Seaville U.M. Church, Asbury Methodist Church, Strathmere U.M. Church and South Seaville Camp Meeting. Somers was a well known historian of Cape May Co. serving as curator of Cape May Co. Museum. He was a member of the Richard Somers Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. He served on many historical organizations including Upper Twp. Historical Society and Cold Spring Village. He was preceded in death by his parents Somers and Mary Corson and leaves behind a multitude of family and close friends. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 at the Seaville U.M. Church, 3100 Shore Rd., Seaville, NJ 08230 and will be immediately followed with burial in the Seaville U.M.
