We just heard that Somers pasted Saturday and his service was yesterday, sorry to have missed the service to show our last respects as it was an honor to have known such a very, very dear man. Somers was had a gentle way about him, always kind and giving and had a great laugh. He was like "a piece of the rock" always true and caring. God lent us a great gift in Somers, but we know he's at great peace in the presence of God and most likely singing his most beloved songs. He will be kept as a memory in our hearts.
GLAD YOUR HOME DEAR FRIEND!!

Somers was a good friend of my family, Dot and Irve Crowers & Linda Rogers. He was a wonderful caring man and had a great voice. He loved to sing the hymns. He did a lot for the Christian faith and Asbury Methodist Church. He would bring his beautiful green s to the bazaar at the Hall of Asbury. May he rest in peace

Somers Corson meant the world to us and our children. The kindness, love and care that Somers had for others was truly beyond description. Somers was a strong, devout Christian who lived his faith through his daily walk and always brought, “Praise, Honor and Glory” to his loving savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
When we lived in New Jersey, rarely a day went by that Somers didn’t spend time with us. I can’t remember a holiday where Somers wasn’t with us and we will never forget how Somers would decorate our house at Christmas with the beauty of God’s creation, all hand picked by Somers himself. When Kathy’s father died, Somers went into the woods and created the most beautiful floral display anyone has ever seen. Everything Somers did was from the heart and included a little piece of him.
Although it wasn’t to be, we always said what a fantastic, husband and father Somers would have made. I’ll never forget when our 4th child Michael was born almost 32 years ago and Somers and I went to the hospital to see Kathy and the baby. For reasons I didn’t’ know at the time, Somers was very nervous. As we approached the glass looking into the nursery, Somers started to cry. He began to tell me about the girl he loved that his mother and Aunt Mary felt they needed Somers more than she; after all they were widows and needed him with them. It was especially touching to see Somers awkwardness in holding the baby but again, as he looked down at that little package, the tears once again began to flow. Oh, what could have been…
Right now our hearts are broken, but soon, we will be with Somers again. Although Somers lived a life of faith doing good, his complete and total trust was in the finished work of what the Lord Jesus Christ did at Calvary to pay the penalty for our sins in full. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9.
And verse 10 of Ephesians 2 is where Somers best reflected his Blessed Savior. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
We will always love Somers and long for the day we will spend eternity together.
In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Jim, Kathy, Dawn, Jimmy, Erin, Michael and Billy Dougherty
