Jennie Long, age 90, of Erma passed away peacefully Monday, June 23, 2014 at her home. Jennie was born in Margate, NJ; was formerly of SW Philadelphia; and has been a Cape May area resident for over 70 years. She and her late husband owned and operated several motels and a construction company in Cape May County. Jennie was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cape May Chapter. She was a volunteer at Cape Regional Medical Center for 39 years. Jennie was a world traveler visiting China, Japan, Russia, England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and South America. She was preceded in death by her husband Austin M. Long, Sr. in 1983. Jennie is survived by her daughter Charlotte (Alex) Guerra and her son Austin M. Long, Jr. Also surviving are her three granddaughters: Christine Tompkins, Laura (Forrest) Hentz, & Betsie (Louis) Winokur; and her six great grandchildren: Amanda, Tyler, Haley, Valerie, George & Alison. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Tabernacle United Methodist Cemetery, 702 Seashore Rd, Erma, NJ 08204. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jennie's memory to Cape Regional Medical Center Foundation/Volunteer Services, 2 Stone Harbor Blvd., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
