Michael Joseph (Moe) Hamilton, 71, of Del Haven, NJ, passed away on November 4, 2024 in Del Haven. Michael was born in Philadelphia, PA to John and Mary Volpe. Michael enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1974. From 1978 to 1982, he also served four years in the United States Navy. Later in life, as an employee of Bally's Casino in Security, he was voted Employee of the Month. For 25 years, he was employed by the NJ Department of Corrections where he retired as a Sergeant. After retirement, Michael joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary where he served in many positions. He especially enjoyed helping with Seamanship School teaching recruits to tie knots and throw lines. Michael also earned a blackbelt in Goju when he was 51, was the founder of the Gekisai Do Academy and was a first responder during the events of 911 in New York. Michael is survived by his wife, Diane Hamilton, his son, James Michael Hamilton, his Grandchildren: Zachary, Alexis, Ryan, Harmony and Owen; his sisters, Susan Sheehy and Nicole Hamilton; nephews Andrew and John Devennie; nieces, Kimberly, Kristen, Miranda, Brittany and nephew James. A Celebration of Life will be held, where family and friends are welcome to share stories of Michael and their love, on Saturday, November 9th from 1:30 – 3:30PM at Evoy Funeral Homes, 3218 Bayshore Road, North Cape May, NJ 08204.
