I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Jane. I have been thinking of her so much and wondering how she was doing so I decided to google her name. I just spoke about her to a coworker noting how Jane really made such an impact in my life. I am a supervisor and Jane once supervised me at the PBJ. I had a mindset if I became a supervisor I would be just like Jane kind, caring, a great mentor and just a good friend. I recently found a few old letters from Jane commending me for a good job. Jane was a wonderful person. MIke I am so sorry. Jane I love and think of you often.

If she's lucky she will be at The Cove in her beach chair under the umbrella with her hat on...There's a small cooler jammed with snacks, cold drinks...It is an eternally glorious Summer day...The water and waves are mid-August perfect, so is the sun and the sky...On the whispering breeze she hears the children's glee and the crying gull...If we are luckier still, she's holding that spot until the rest of us find a parking spot and arrive at our appointed time...Thanks for all the great Summers and all the other seasons as well, for they now feel a thousand-fold with your leaving...As Ever, Your loving friend...Joe Van Blunk

As a former writer with the Herald, I worked with "Miss Jane" for two years. She was a gifted artist who could take words, surround them with her art, and make the words look as though they were meant to be on a page.
She and I would often laugh at the comings and goings of life at the paper. Her sense of humor was infectious. She was a treasure.
The world is darker because of her passing, but my, how heaven now sparkles.
Rest well, my friend.

I had the pleasure of working with Jane at the Herald. We shared many laughs during our work days. I called her Miss Jane, a reference to the Beverly Hillbillies TV show. She was never rattled even by the tightest deadline or last minute change of the paper. The last time we met, she had a can of Popeye Spinach on her desk we had given her for strength. Jane was always a joy to work with and will be very missed.
