Obituary of James Collins

Collins, James William, age 71, of Villas and formerly of Philadelphia, passed away on September 26, 2021.
James "Jim" was born in Philadelphia to the late James and Charlotte (nee Grebe) Collins. He was a Sergeant in the Army Corps of Engineers and, for 50 years, made a living as a carpenter working for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 158. He enjoyed making fishing rods and playing golf. Jim was a talented musician, a rocker from the 60's who played the bass guitar, lead guitar, banjo and recently learned how to play the ukulele. He was in many rock'n roll bands throughout the years and even cut a record. He was a member of the Cape May County String Band and he also had his own country band called the Cape May Cowboys, who played in nursing homes to entertain the elderly. Jim was also a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jim is predeceased by his parents and his two miscarried babies, Vince and Babs. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, of 40 years, Kathleen (nee Burns) Collins, his nieces, Heather Burns and Kelly Klakowicz, his nephews, Ken Burns and Adam Klakowicz, his Grand-nieces, Devon and Madison Burns and his Grand-nephews, Gabriel Burns and Mak Klakowicz and many cousins.
A funeral service is scheduled for Jim on Wednesday, October 6 at 11am with visiting 1 hour prior from 10am to 11am, at Our Lady of Angels. 35 E. Mechanic St., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Interment will be private.
