Alfred J. "Al" Nemec, age 82, of Villas, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Al was born in Philadelphia, PA; formerly lived in Drexel Hill, PA; and has been a Cape May area resident since 2001. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War where he was the recipient of a Purple Heart. Al was a maintenance worker at Mrs. Paul's Industries in Braddock, NJ for 17 years, and retired from Finner & Haley Paint in Conshohocken, PA. He was a member of DAV Chapter 44 in Del Haven, the Cape May VFW #386, and the Villas Fishing Club. Al is survived by his wife of 55 years Theresa (nee Mortelliti) Nemec and his four sons: Alfred Jr. of Clifton Heights, PA; Mark of Drexel Hill, PA; David (Ann Marie) of Lindenwold, NJ; & Eric (Lindsay) of Rydal, PA. Also surviving are: his sister Agnes Harvey of Villas, NJ; his three grandchildren: Tiffany, Amanda, & Samuel; and his two great grandchildren: Giovanna & Nathaniel. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St John of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. The family suggests donations in Al's memory to the American Diabetes Foundation, 150 Monument Rd, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004. Mass cards appreciated.
