Grace Leaming, age 77, of Cape May Court House passed away on Monday, September 11, 2011 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Born in Wildwood, she has been a life long area resident. Grace retired as a teacher at Wildwood Elementary School. She graduated from Nyack College and Glassboro State. Grace taught 3 years at Vineland Christian Academy and then 37 years at the Wildwood Elementary Schools and was the NJ Teacher of the Year in 1989. She was a member of: Delta Capa Gama Sorority, Cape May Bird Observatory, and a former member of the National Audabon Society. Grace was the original builder and former owner of the Silver Birch Motel in Rio Grande; and owner of the Old Fashion Ice Cream Parlor formerly in Rio Grande. She is survived by: her brother Robert (Joyce) Leaming of Homosassa, FL; nephew David Leaming; grandnephew Noah Leaming; grandniece Karlie Leaming; and close friend Beth Waicus. There will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Pilgrim Holiness Church, 616 Shunpike Rd, Erma, NJ 08204. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ. The family suggests donations in Grace's memory to the Pilgrim Holiness Church, 616 Shunpike Rd, Erma, NJ 08204 or the Survivors of Cancer, PO Box 266, Wildwood, NJ 08260.
