William J Vogt, age 55, of Cape May Court House passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 surrounded by his family. Born & raised in Philadelphia, he has been a Cape May area resident for 15 years. He was a 1974 graduate of Frankford High School in Philadelphia. He was a self employed artist (working primarily with stained glass), and a "jack of all trades". Bill was an avid motorcycle rider and friend to all the local riding clubs. He played drums for the band "Emerald" with his brothers and cousin and was an activist for Higbee Beach to remain a "naturist beach". Bill is survived by his wife Arlene (nee Gudknecht); his son William J (Jenn Webb) Vogt Jr. of Villas; his daughter Christina (Keith) Vogt-Hennessy of Philadelphia; his mother Mary Vogt of Spotswood, NJ; his brother Joseph Vogt of Philadelphia; his brother Daniel Vogt of Philadelphia; and his sister Catherine Ait Moussa of Spotswood, NJ. Also surviving are his grandchildren: William Vogt III and Annabelle Jean Hennessy. He was preceded in death by his first wife Regina "Jean" O'Brien; his daughter Kimberly Vogt; his father John "Jack" Vogt; and his brother John Vogt. There will be a funeral service at 2;00 PM on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends may call from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Interment will be private. The family suggests donations in William's memory to the American Lung Assoc. of NJ, 1600 Route 22 East, Union, NJ 07083.
