Robert C. Imler age 83 of North Cape May passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Cape Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Altoona, PA. Robert served in the US Coast Guard for 55 years both career and civilian.
He served in Japan during the Korean Conflict, Rhodes, Greece, and up and down the New England coast.
As a civilian he worked at the Electronic Engineering Center, retiring as Division Chief. He retired on April 1, 2000. He was involved for 40 years in Lower Twp. civic service. He had served continuously on the Lower Twp. Planning Board and the Lower Twp. Environmental Commission. Robert was an Eagle Scout and was active with scouting in the Cape May area. He had been a member of the German Seventh Day Baptist Church in Salemville, PA.
Robert is survived by his wife Margaret Spencer; two sons, Joseph (Sandy) Imler of Scarborough, ME and Peter ( Evamarie) Imler of South Dennis, NJ; a brother James Harold Imler of Camp Hill, PA; a daughter-in-law, Carrie Dickinson (Kenneth) ; seven grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, and Joseph Imler , Caroline Twombly, James and Joseph Clarke and Kenneth C. Dickinson
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 pm, Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Road, North Cape May. Friends may call on Thursday from 11am to 1 pm at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Cold Spring Presbyterian Cemetery, Cold Spring. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Cape May County Animal Shelter, 4 Moore Road, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210 or a Nature Conservation Organization of your choice .
