Richard D. Bowers, Sr., 69 of Cape May Beach, formerly of Elizabeth, PA passed away on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009 in Pleasant Hills, PA.

He retired after 26 years, as a retail manager for G.C. Murphy Co. in McKeesport, PA. He was a member of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Erma, a 1958 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, a former member and president of Wildwood Lions Club, an avid sportsman and member of the Ideal Hunting Camp in Cameron Co. and Camp Ishotatone in Brookville, PA. He was a man of tremendous faith who touched the lives of many.

He was the son of the late Harry and Rhoda J. Byers Bowers, and husband of the late Michele Dutrow Bowers. He is survived by a son Richard D. Bowers Jr. of Elverson, PA, daughters Brenda (Jim) Crawford of Wilmington, DE, Paula (Robert) Jackson of Elverson, PA, Trisha Nelson and Mary Katherine (Donald) Miller of Villas; 12 grandchildren; brothers, Glenn (Donna) Bowers of Elizabeth Twp. PA and David (Dori) Bowers of Floreffe, PA and nieces and nephews

Friends will be received from 6-8 PM on Thursday and Friday morning from 10 to 11 am at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Road, N. Cape May. Funeral services will be at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial Tabernacle United Methodist Cemetery, Erma. Contributions may be made to; Tabernacle U.M. Church.
