Michael Francis Johnson Obituary

Michael F Johnson, age 91, passed away on September 6, 2009 at North Cape Center. Born in Philadelphia, he moved toVillas in 1976. Michael graduated from Central High of Philadelphia; went on to earn a bachelors degree from the University of Pennsylvania; and a masters degree from Temple. He began his working career in the shoe department at Strawbridge & Clothier in Philadelphia and then became a computer analyst for SKF Industries also of Philadelphia; and for 15 years did volunteer tax preparation for VITA at the Social Services Building in Rio Grande. Michael served his country during World War II in the U S Army where he fought in Northern France, Normandy, and Rhineland attaining the rank of First Sergeant. He earned the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and two Purple Hearts. He was a member of St. Raymond's Church in Villas and was a member and former administrator of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1157 of Wildwood. Michael enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joan of Villas; daughter Carol (Dana) Pannepacker fo Telford, PA; daughter Susan (Robert) Lutz of Schwenksville, PA; and six grand children. He was preceeded in death by two sisters. Funeral services will be held at the Evoy Funeral Home in North Cape May on Thursday 9/10/09 at 11:00 am. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 am - 11 am. Internment will be private at the convenience of the family. Donations can be made to the St Raymond's Memorial Fund.
