Obituary of Martin J. Dipper

Martin J. Dipper, Sr., age 76, of Del Haven died on July 5, 2009 at North Cape Center. Born in Woodbury, NJ, he was formerly of Wenonah, NJ before moving to this area in 1976. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of Wenonah Fire Co. 1, Little League Baseball Coach, Wenonah Town Councilman, member of Cape May Marlin & Tuna Club and belonged to the Antique Classic Boat Society on the national and local levels. Martin worked for more than a decade as a Technician in Physical Chemistry at Dupont, had a Bachelors Degree in Education from Glassboro State College, and for five years was a Physics Teacher at Highland High School in Gloucester Twp. He owned and was the captain of the Atlantis and Dolphin Charter Fishing Boats. He was a good father, skilled fisherman and talented boat builder. Surviving are his children, Martin J., Jr. "Jamie" of Annapolis, MD and Sandra J. "Sandy" Dipper of Savannah, GA and a brother, George of Mantua, NJ. Also surviving are his friend and former wife Melva Swith-Richman of Amelia Island , Florida. A celebration of his life will be held at the Cape May Martin & Tuna Club of Cape May, 1390 Lafayette St. Cape May, NJ 08204 on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 from 4 to 7 pm. A memorial gift can be made to the American Cancer Society in the name of Captain Martin J. Dipper.
