Charles W. Weiss, Sr., age 78, of Dias Creek died on June 29, 2009 at Crest Haven Hospice Facility. Born in Imperial, Nebraska, he was a resident here since 1974. He retired as Chief Warrant Officer in the U. S. Coast Guard, where he served for over 20 years. During that time, he was a gunners mate serving in Vietnam. He worked for Everlon Curtain Processing Factory and was then employed by Cape May County in the maintenance department at Cape May Co. Airport. He was a member of Peterson-Little VFW Post # 386 of W. Cape May and a former member of County Board of Elections. Surviving are his wife, Doris (nee Bevis); a son, Charles W., Jr. (Michelle) of Del Haven; step-children, Charlotte Anderson (Ron) of W. Cape May, Charles Souter (Cindy) of Rio Grande, Lillian Souter of Dias Creek and Eric Weiss of Dias Creek; brothers Kenneth Weiss and Bud (Karen) Weiss of Nebraska, an aunt, Lucille Hayes Weiss of Imperial, NE; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
