Obituary of Edward F. Strain

Edward F. Strain, of, N. Cape May went home to the Lord on June 29, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with Leukemia. He was the son of the late Edward J. and Catherine B. Strain. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 30, 1928. He attended St. John the Baptist High School for Boys in Philadelphia, and the Univ. of PA Wharton School of Accounts and Finance earning a degree of Associate in Business Administration. He had a 40 year career with the Railroad industry and served in the 2nd Armor Division in Europe during the Korean War. Edward was a Eucharistic Minister at the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul and the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church both in Philadelphia. When he relocated to Cape May he served as Eucharistic Minister at St. John of God Church serving at Cape Regional Medical Center and various nursing homes. Ed spent his days doing volunteer work for anyone who needed help. He is survived by his wife, Maryann; his brother Ronald (Anne) and nephew Michael a sister Clarice Brady (Len); and nephew Bobby; sister-in-law, Julianne O'Leary and nephew, Sean and niece Scarlett Newhoff and two great nephews Jake and Julien and a great-niece Sasha. He will be sorely missed by his beloved pets, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am, Monday July 6, 2009 at the St. John of God Church, N. Cape May with a visitation from 10 to 11 am.
