Arthur L. Shivers, Jr., age 72, of Rio Grande passed away suddenly on Tuesday June 9, 2009. Born in North Wildwood, he was a lifelong Cape May Co. resident. Art had worked in heavy construction most of his life. He was member of local #172 Heavy & General Labor Construction, and he also had worked for Harry Kane Contruction. Currently he was employed by the Sand Barrens Golf Club. He enjoyed riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, belonging to the Silverspokes Motorcycle Club and had served as president for three years. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce, he is survived by two children, Arthur L. III and Karen Fowler, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and sisters, Joan Taylor of Erma and Pearl Taylor of Florida and brothers, Carl and Bruce Shivers of Cape May Court House. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 30th , 11:00 AM at Tabernacle U. M. Church, 702 Seashore Rd., Erma, NJ. Friends may call at the church after 10 am.
