James W. Verna, age 78, of North Cape May died on Friday at Cape Regional Medical Center. Born in Clifton Heights, PA, he formerly lived in Darby, PA before moving to N. Cape May in 1997. He was a sheet metal worker and member of Union Local #19 of Phila. for 30 years. He then worked for the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts for seven years. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Stella Maris Knights of Columbus Council #3546 of Erma, Msgr. Moroney 4th Degree Assembly and Color Corps of Wildwood, Holy Name Society of St. John of God Church of N. Cape May and the Columbus Italian American Club of Clifton Hts., PA , where he was former board secretary. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Mary Lou (Boland); children, Mary Lou Boyle (Joseph) of Folcroft, PA, Nicholas Verna (Joanne) of West Chester, PA and James L. Verna (LoriAnn) of Trooper, PA; a brother, Louis P. Verna of Clifton Hts., PA; a sister, Rose D'Andrea (Gabriel) of Folsom, PA; nine grandchildren, Christine, Michelle, Jill, Joseph, Nicholas, Danielle, Alexandra, Jason and William, and one great-grandson, Anthony. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, 11:00 AM at St. John of God R. C. Church, 680 Town Bank Rd., N. Cape May, NJ. There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 7 - 9 PM and on Wednesday from 9:30 -10:30 AM at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd., N. Cape May, NJ Burial will be on Wednesday at approximately 2:15 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
