Obituary of Virginia Bazela

Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Virginia Bazela, Mother to seven children, Grandmother to 13 children and Great- Grandmother to 14 children, died peacefully on March 26 in Cape May, New Jersey, at the age of 87. Aside from her unshakable commitment to her family, Virginia was known for her many passions, including her professional career at the John Wanamaker Company for over 20 years, and then at the Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor, NJ for over 25 years. The later could have not been a more fitting place for a woman like Virginia to work, for she held a strong adoration of nature, particularly for the coasts and shorelines of New Jersey. Her love of nature also contributed to theway she caringly tended to her flowers and small garden at her beach house in Cape May,New Jersey, where she and her husband of 61 years, Zygmund J. Bazela, spent their retirement basking in the warmth of a large family, and their mutual love of beautiful Cape May. Aside from the time she spent working, Virginia loved to travel and visit with her many friends and family members. This led to frequent trips to the west coast, where she developed a love of the Pacific Ocean to rival that of the Atlantic. Her family will remember her whenever a salt air zephyr blows through the window, or when the sound of waves that can beheard on quiet nights ring through her beloved home in Cape May, NJ. Surviving are her children, Carolyn (Joseph) Mongillo, Zygmund J., Jr. (Eileen) Barbara J. (Coates) Bateman, Virginia (George) Beck, Frances Bazela (Hidefumi) Katsuura, William B. (Nancy) and Susan Bazela (Harris Crockin); a brother Burchall ( Dorothy) Cooling and a sister, Lorraine Thalheimer. She was predeceased by a sister, Jean Nichols. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, 11 AM at St.John of God Church, Townbank Rd., N. Cape May, NJ, where friends may call from 10 AM. Burial will be private. Donations in her memory may be sent to: Wetlands Institute, 1075 Stone Harbor Boulevard, Stone Harbor, NJ 08247. Evoy Funeral Home
