John J. Piraino, age 83, of North Cape May died at home on Dec. 23, 2008 after living a life that he cherished and enjoyed as well as made sure everyone around him savored every moment like a good glass of wine. "Gin-don". Born in Phila., Pa., he was a resident here since 1998. He served in the U. S. Army with the 802nd Police Battalion during World War II, serving in the African Campaign against German General Rommel. He was a machinist for Boeing Aircraft of Phila. for over 25 years, during which he became Employee of the Year in 1980.Surviving are his wife, Joanna (Annunziato); six shared children, Susanne, Dianna, Joanna, Jr., Marianne and David and their families; a brother Richard (Eleanor) of Sicklerville, NJ; sis-in-law, Agnes of NJ; nine grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews Richie, Dianne, Bobby, Margie, Ray, Larry and their families.. He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Sarah Giordano; brothers, Frank, Sammy and Joe, one shared child, Robert and Cuzzy Joe. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd., N. Cape May, NJ, where friends may call from 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Cape May Co. Veterans Cem. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Holy Redeemer Hospice of Cape May and Father Nick.
