Peter P. Catanoso, age 77, of Villas died on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 after a brief illness at his home surrounded by family. Born in North Wildwood, he was a graduate of Wildwood High School. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Delaware River Port Authority, Acme Markets as a baker and in his retirement years, he worked for his family at Steel Pier. He was a lifetime member and past Post Commander of V.F.W Post 6253 of Berlin, councilman in Berlin Boro, served on the Boards of Education and Health in Berlin and was a past president of the Sons of Italy, Michaelangelo Lodge in Villas. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Carolyn; a son, David (Sue) of Seaville; four grandchildren, Amanda, Erica, Kevin and Matthew; and siblings Tony (Phyllis), Leona (George) Betz, Leonard (Connie), Mary (Pat) Nestor, Joe (Millie) and Charlie (Louise). He was preceded in death by his son, Mark and sisters Elizabeth (Peter) Lamanna and Bessie (Manny) LaRosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, 11 AM at St. Raymond's Church, Bayshore & Ocean Ave., Villas, NJ, where friends may call from 9 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin, NJ. Donations in his memory may be sent to: South Jersey Cancer Fund, P O Box 1084, Brigantine, NJ 08203 or St. Raymond's Church.
