Vincent P. Kuhn, Sr., 83, Husband and Father, WW II Veteran and Banker of Cape May died on November 11, 2008, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. Vincent was born and resided in Elizabeth, NJ until his retirement in 1986. He also lived in Forked River and most recently, Cape May. Vincent graduated from the Pingry School, Hillside in January 1944, immediately entering the U. S. Army. He served his country proudly in the 29th Infantry Division (the European Theater). Vincent received the Purple Heart and two Oak Leaf clusters for injuries suffered in combat. He returned from the war and attended St. Vincent's College in Latrobe, Pa., graduating with a degree in Business Administration in 1950. He began his career at Commercial Credit as a loan officer. Vincent then was employed for many years by Elizabeth Federal S & L, later Arch Federal S & L as a mortgage officer rising to become vice-president and secretary of the bank. He retired from Statewide S & L in 1986. Vincent was married on May 5, 1951 to Virginia Nickas, the love of his life, to whom he was devoted through 51 years of marriage. They were a marriage in every sense and together they raised nine children. Vincent was most proud of his family. His hobbies included big band music, physical fitness, sailing and camping with his wife and children. In addition, Vincent had a strong sense of contributing to the community. He volunteered over the years with American Red Cross, CYO girls basketball, AARP, Meals on Wheels, Good Samaritan and Pre-Cana. Vincent was a long time parishioner of St. Genevieve's Church in Elizabeth and Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Cape May. Vincent was predeceased by his wife, Virginia and his sister, Dorothy Dougher. Vincent is survived by his family, Vincent, Jr. and his wife, Valerie, Richard and his wife, Sandra, Kathleen Gallagher and her husband Raymond, Maureen Rodriguez and her husband, Jose, Ann and partner, Michelle Madison, Thomas and his wife, Diane, James and his wife, Monika, Joan Corigliano and her husband, Lou, John, and 20 grandchildren. Vince is also survived by his brothers, John, Robert and Donald and many loved nieces and nephews. There will be visitation on Sunday from 2 - 5 PM at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd., N. Cape May, NJ. and on Monday at 8:30 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Washington St., Cape May, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial , 9:30 AM at the church. Burial will follow at Cape May County Veterans Cemetery.
