Today I sit with a heavy heart as I learned a buddy I served with has passed away.
Rambo arrived at Ft. Drum from South Korea shortly after I arrived there from Basic/A.I.T. as a cherry infantryman. We deployed stateside to train cadets at West Point, to Ft. Polk to participate in the suckfest there, and to Uzbekistan/Afghanistan.
I can still remember sitting in his room as he was getting ready to "pop smoke" and separate. He always talked about going to the Florida Keys to party and run a bar, and I fondly remember his pride in his hometown and love in voice when he spoke of his family (actually I even visited with him once for a very short time).
It sucks brother... idk what to say. We shared a lot of drinks and even more laughs. Even though we only knew each other a short time, I still think of you and the guys every day. Life certainly makes little sense, and is less than fair. I'll always value the memories we shared, buddy. Until Valhalla and To the Top, Rambo!
Forever Brothers,
