Joan L. Hughes, she was born and raised in Pennsylvania and spent all of her summers in South Jersey with her family. Joan met and fell in love with William Hughes and they married on September 15t 1950 at St. Ann's Church. She was a member of St. Anns Roman Catholic Church Wildwood for many years before moving to Florida and becoming a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church. She and her husband Bill raised eight children in Wildwood, where they owned and operated the family business, Hughes Market. During those years Joan had gone to college and received her associates degree. She became an avid tennis player in which she encouraged her children to become involved in. She was very involved with every aspect of her children's lives and supported them every day. When she went to a sporting event everyone new she was there cheering on the team and her children enthusiastically. She was a member of the Democratic Club, Bridge Club, The Jersey Cape Rachet Club, the women's softball league, the Wildwood bowling league and the list continues on. She moved to Leesburg Florida with her husband Bill and lived there for 16 years. During that time she became the Treasurer of Tara View, member of the Plantation Theatrical Group, member of the chorus and Friends in Accord, photographer for all events and competed as well as orchestrated many tennis events at the Plantation. Joans true passion throughout her life was art. She was a professional artist and her paintings reflected her life, which many enjoyed in her gallery showings. Joan was a world traveler and visited places like Egypt, Italy, England and many more. Joan lived life to the fullest every day and loved to laugh and play games with her Family. Joan is joining in heaven her loving Husband William Hughes her beloved Daughter Sharon Sicilia and Nephew Lee Vilet. She is survived by her sister Evelyn Vilet, Son William Hughes and his wife Kathy, Daughter Evelyn Miley and her Husband John, Son Robert Hughes and his Wife Audrey, Daughter Victoria Graham, Daughter Rhonda Rosamilia and her Husband Salvatore, Son John Hughes and his Wife Lisa, Daughter Colleen White and her Husband Kevin and many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, one Great Great Grandchild and nieces. She was the matriarch of our Family and the best Mother a child could ever be lucky enough to hope for. She will be missed immensely. She would say Laughter is the bottom line and that is the way she Iived. We love you Mom. Donations can be made in her honor to any Hospice organization of your choice. The viewing will be Thursday night September 4th at Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Road, North Cape May, NJ from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on September 5th at St. Anns Catholic Church at 11:00 am followed by the burial at St. Mary's Cemetery.
