Obituary of Richard P. Wernik

Richard P. Wernik, age 61, of N. Cape May, died suddenly on Wednesday at Cape Regional Medical Center, Cape May Court House, NJ. Born in Wildwood, NJ, he was a lifetime area resident. Mr. Wernik was a contractor by trade, owning and operating Wernik Contracting of Lower Township, NJ for 30 years. He was also employed by the Cape May county Board of Elections during the early 19990s, a former member of the Lower Township Republican Committee and Saint John of God R.C. Church of N. Cape May. He loved spending time with his daughters and going to the beach. He also enjoyed taking walks with his dog Silky. Surviving are his daughters, Michele Wolff (Eric) of Germany, Tamara and Tabitha Wernik of N. Cape May, a sister, Joyce Dickey of South Carolina, brothers, Albert Wernik of Indiana, Robert and Donald of Lower Township; and a granddaughter Madeliene. He was predeceased by brothers, John Wernik Jr. and Ronald Wernik.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday at the Evoy funeral home, 3218 Bayshore Road, N. Cape May, NJ where friends may call from 1 PM. Burial is private.
