Charles Charlie E. Petersen, age 76, of Town Bank, NJ died at home on Sunday, January 20, 2008 following a long illness. He was born June 21, 1931 in Morristown, NJ. He graduated from Wood-Ridge High School in 1951. He served in the U. S. Navy SEABEES for over six years in the 1950s and was stationed in Argentia, Newfoundland. He retired from New Jersey Bell in 1988 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Satellite Beach, Florida. On July 1, 1972 he was united in marriage to Josephine De Boer in Garfield, NJ. They resided in Fair Lawn, NJ and moved to Cape May, NJ in 1988 after his retirement from New Jersey Bell. He then worked at the Garden Greenhouse in Clermont for 13 years. Charles is survived by his wife, Josephine; his daughter and her husband, Laure and James Colonno of Aruba; his son and his wife, Charles and Linda Petersen of Dumont, NJ; his stepdaughter and her husband, Lynn and Denis De Boer of Seattle, WA; his stepson and his wife, Joseph and Laura De Boer of Ridgewood, NJ; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Jaime, Kristy, Jason, Daniel, Andrew Michael and Christopher; his mother, Mary Quinlan, mother in law, Concetta Cimino and a cousin, Art Slockbower. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In additional he was preceded in death by one infant son, Christopher, one stepson Frederick De Boer, one brother, Frederick and one sister, Betty. Funeral services for Charles will be held on Wednesday, 1:00 PM at Tabernacle Church on Seashore Rd., Erma, NJ. Pastor Jack Howard will officiate. Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd., N. Cape May, NJ on Wednesday from 11:00 am 12:30 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Community Care Hospice Foundation, 11 Independence Way, Newark, Delaware 19713. The family would like to thank all of the staff of the Compassionate Care Hospice. Finally, Charlie would like everyone to know he has gone fishing permanently and will see you all around the bay.
