H. James Tillotson (Jake), 91, of North Cape May, son of the late Jim and Ruby Tillotson, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015. Jake was born and raised in the Wildwoods. He is predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Marilyn Langford Tillotson. He was a graduate of Wildwood High School class of 1943. Jake is survived by his three children: Cheryl Purdon (Eric), Dawn Brewer, and Gary Tillotson (Margo). Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Dan Tillotson (Charlee), Kelly Tillotson Skipper (Gerry), Mark Godfrey (Carie), Ned Purdon (Carla), Kristin Godfrey Russell (Colin), Alexis Tillotson Posson (Luke), Allison Brewer Underwood (Marty), Cori Godfrey Correra (Colby), Jillian Brewer Harris (Jon); and eleven great grandchildren. Jake also leaves one brother, Harry Tillotson; one sister, Ruby Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jake enlisted in the US Navy in February of 1943, just before the end of his senior year in high school and was granted his diploma along with the other enlistees of his class. He served on the SS George W Lively in the Mediterranean during WWII. Throughout his life, Jake was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Wildwood and past president of the Wildwood Kiwanis Club. Retired from Atlantic City Electric Co., ever the entrepreneurs, Jake and his wife, Marilyn, owned several area businesses: Hole-in-One Donut Shop, Wildwood Crib Rental, Brick Hearth Restaurant, A Touch of Class, and the Pelican's Nest. Jake was a devoted father, husband and family man who was also a friend to many. His sense of humor, dedication and generosity were his legacy to his family. Burma Shave!
