Obituary of Andrew J Roza

Andrew J Roza, Sr., age 79, of Villas, NJ and Yonkers, NY passed away peacefully Sunday, May 10, 2015 at his home in Villas. Andrew was born September 22, 1935 in Bronx, NY and grew up Yonkers, NY. He is the son of the late Andrew A and the late Annie (Ham) Roza. Andrew was educated in the school system there. He was appointed to the Yonkers Police Dept in November of 1956 and retired in 1994. Andrew was in the US Army National Guard for 9 years serving with the 101st Signal Battalion and was called to active duty in the US Army from 1961-1962. He was a member of and served as Past Master of Hawthorne Masonic Lodge F& A.M. (now the Van Courtland Lodge #1034). He also belonged to the Villas Fishing Club; Villas VFW; DAV Chapter 44; Post 1122 American Legion in Yonkers, NY; the NRA; the NY Police & Fire Association of West Chester County, NY; and also the NY Firearms Association. Andrew was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn D Roza in 2014 and his son Warren D Roza in 1984. He is survived by his sons: Andrew J (Elizabeth) Roza, Jr. & William E (Josephine) Roza; his daughter Helen (Tony) Gray; and 7 grandchildren. There will be a funeral service at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Masonic services will be 1:30 PM. Interment will be private.
