John "Jack" O'Malley, Jr., age 87, of Erma passed away after a long illness on Friday, May 1, 2015. Born in Philadelphia, PA; he resided there until retiring to Erma, NJ. He is the son of the late John and the late Martha (nee Campbell) O'Malley. He was a graduate of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia. Jack worked 31 years at the Philadelphia Navy Yard before retiring to the Cape May area. He was a proud veteran of the US Army serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Jack loved playing golf and was an avid fan of Notre Dame and all the Philadelphia sports teams. He was an active member and coach of sporting activities at Incarnation of Our Lord Parish in Philadelphia, was a past President of the Incarnation Club, and a member of the American Legion Chapter 184 in Wildwood. Jack was preceded in death by his grandson Kristopher Reed, his sister Joan Newman, and his son-in-law Donald Sautter. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years: Claire (nee McCann) O'Malley and his eleven children: Patricia (Don) Crist, John III (Rose), Theresa Sautter, Kathleen (Tom) Reed, Debra (Anthony) Piro, James (Stacey), Sue (Joe) Catanoso, Ann (Bernie) Pease, William (Connie), Patrick (Ann) & Kevin. Also surviving are his 27 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, his sister Marie Becker and his brother Joseph. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at St Anne's RC Church, 2900 Atlantic Ave, Wildwood, NJ 08260; where friends will be received from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
