Oh Marvin, Its so hard for me to express myself as I lost my wife last month at 65. We stopped by so many times over the many years we stayed here during the summer. We were uplifted with your stories of the past and talking about your wonderful family. To Patricia, Sharon, Kathy and Larry, you had many blessed years with a great guy. He once gave me a flag for my volunteer firehouse up in New York. I'm going to miss my visits to see you Marvin. The family will take care of the business, but you will never be forgotten. You were and are the heart of Sunset Beach!
Sorry, I just found out about your passing, as I said my wife was very ill for many months and we didn't get down here.
In a passing moment, please look for my wife Beth in Heaven, and visit like we used to.
Love
Bob

My husband Dad and Mom would go to the VFW convention every year and attend many Flag ceremonies lead and dedicated by Marv. He will always be remembered.
What a wonderful man he was.
My Dad and husband assisted Marv helping fold the flag if there were no volunteers and we all felt that it was such an honor.
Dad passed last July and my husband said that I should go with Mom this year. I was very upset to learn of Marvs passing but am thrilled that these ceremonies will still continue. I spoke to Marvs son.

I'm so disappointed and saddened I missed the services. Unfortunately I wasn't informed about Marvin in time. My condolences are sent to his entire family. I know Marvin because of the many visits he made to the North Cape Center, where I work. Marvin and his wife are two of the nicest people I've ever met. You would never know he was in any pain because he always kept a smile on his face

Dear Hume Family,
We were so sorry to hear of your fathers passing. When we had Rob's grandfathers flag ceremony Marvin was there to help Rob fold up the flag. It was always nice to see to him in one of the stores and have a conversation of what life has to offer. He will be missed. God Bless.

I met Marvin while making arrangements to have a flag ceremony for my best friend and shipmate three years ago. While I have attended many ceremonies over the years at sunset beach I never realized who was behind this patriotic effort until then. Marvin was a true inspiration and someone to be admired not just by veterans but all Americans. My only wish is that the family please keep the tradition alive. I am sure he would want it to remain that way and I might add we need a special day to honor Marvin. May he rest in peace.

Marvin and Pat always put a smile on Jimmy Sosna and Linda Keech and their girls Lea and Kelsy. He was kind, generous, wise and patriotic.(sometimes to a fault) You always got the truth from Marvin, as he knew it to be. He was loved and will be missed.

Marvin was the oldest alumnus of the Archer-Epler "Musketeers" drum & bugle corps in Upper Darby PA, playing from 1933 to WW2. The corps has played at Sunset Beach annually to participate in his veteran's flag lowering ceremonies. We will be there again on Friday June 5th to honor his memory.

My husband Lonnie and I didn't know Marvin personally, but our daughter, Melinda and her husband Rick Wolfe talked about him and Rick's Mother, Patricia. Our prayers are with Patricia and Marvin's family. He was a very interesting man.

I lived in Cape May County most of my life. Marvin was a staple in my memories. He was such an interesting man and was not afraid to spend time visiting with you whenever I appeared at Cape May Point. Truth be known, I went to see him! He was very special and I enjoyed the many hours I spent with him over the years! My friend Ray and I went to visit him at the Nursing Home on Town Bank Road after a fall, I think or chest pain, cannot remember which. He was so interesting and I grew to love him. He will always be remembered. He made me feel important. He was so proud of his service time and NEVER forgot any of the veterans. He was awesome. I will always remember him and his many stories he shared with me!
You will be in my prayers as you go through this trying time, but please remember, he is in a much better place and watching what we are doing! YIKES! I will always remember him!

We, like many others met Marvin at his shop at Sunset Beach, and became friends. Marvin was a great patriot, and he saluted the Americans that made this country and the ones that have defended it. He provided comfort to the families of the service members. The Sunset Beach Services he made possible for our fallen service members will and should always be remember by us all. He was a great American, a good and decent person. God Bless his soul. Our sincere condolances to his loved ones.

Anyone who had the incredible opportunity to meet this gentleman had a blessing brought to their life as did my family.
My father's flag was flown just a couple years ago at Sunset Beach. My father served in Tulagi and Guadalcanal in WWII.
He brought a peace to my mom,
Just incredible. It was particularly hard because my sister who was able to be there would not be there that much longer.
He gave the grandchildren a gift of national pride as they folded the flag with precision and respect.
He was a special gift to my family and I'm sure to so many others.
We are so sorry for your loss. My faith tells me he is in a very special place. Peace be with you.
