William J Matecki, age 84, of Green Creek, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Cape Regional Medical Center. William was born in Philadelphia, was formerly from that city, and has been a Cape May area resident since 1976. He is the son of the late John and the late Gertrude (Stobenau) Matecki. William was Mounted Police Officer for 20 years with the Philadelphia Police Department. He later drove a school bus for the Lower Cape Regional School District. William was a horse lover and he owned & operated JaJa Pony Rides for birthdays and other special events. He was a member of Our Lady of Angels RC Church. William served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor in 2006. William is survived by his daughters: Debbie (Richard) Weischedel of Bucks County, PA and Donna (Joe) Fleck of Green Creek, NJ. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren: Rebecca, Leigh, Megan, Scott, Rachel, Jacob, Justin, Aaron, & Austin and 11 great grandchildren. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Our Lady of the Angels RC Church, 35 East Mechanic Street, CMCH, NJ 08210. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204 and then from 9 to 10 AM on Monday at Our Lady of the Angels RC Church just prior to the service.
