Ib FW Andersen, age 75, of Villas passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015. Ib was born March 8, 1939 in Randers, Denmark. He went to sea with the Danish Merchant Marine at the age of 14. Ib visited every major seaport in the world except New Zealand. He arrived from Kobe, Japan to New York, where he was drafted into the US Army in 1962. Ib was promoted to Warrant Officer in Vietnam and did two tours there - one in 1968 and another in 1971. He joined the Coast Guard in 1972. Ib retired in 1989 as a Master Chief on a Friday. The following Monday started working for Dorchester Ship Yard as a Contracts Manager until the yard closed in 1998. He started his own Marine Surveyor Business in 1998. After that, he did volunteer work for the US Coast Guard establishing, as co-chair to the Coast Guard Commandant, the Retiree Council among other duties. He was president of the CPOA before and for one more year after he retired at USCG Station Tracen. He volunteered at Social Services delivering meals, doing taxes, etc. Ib was a member of the VFW in Wildwood. He was a member of the Cape Island Masonic Lodge # 30 for forty-one years. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Perla; his children: Vida, Jacques, & Tor; and his grandchildren: Sky, Taylor, Zoey, Abigail, & Robert.
