John A Lieb, age 88, of North Cape May passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 at North Cape Center. John was born in the Brewerytown Section of Philadelphia, and formerly lived in N.E. Philadelphia, and in Richboro, Bucks County. He became a Cape May area resident in 1995. John was a graduate of Roman Catholic High in Philadelphia and St Joseph Seminary in Callicoon, NY. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central Railroad, and Conrail as a control tower operator. John also worked as a union official with the Transportation Communication Union from 1959 until retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Stella Maris Council 3546 Knights of Columbus (where he was a past Grand Knight). John was a member of the Parish of St John Neumann, served as a Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Brewerytown-Fairmount All Timers Sports Association. John was preceded in death by his first wife Teresa (nee Kuczynska); his second wife Viola (nee Barch); four sisters: Elizabeth Glastetter, Teresa Ragan, Gertrude LaGrange, & Genevieve Toadvine; and one brother Joseph Lieb. He is survived by his third wife of 22 years Alice Bello Lieb (nee Lyman). Also surviving are his children: John (Darlene) Lieb, Robert (Pat) Lieb, Teresa (Bob) Stumpo, & Marcia (Jim) Cassidy; his step children: Lillian (Ed) Kemner, Bobby (Marta) Bello, Diane (Frank) Read, Judy Miller, Andrea (Lee) Hafele, Terri Stronski, and Pierette (Joe) Wesley. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 24 step grandchildren, many great grandchildren, many step great grandchildren, scores of nieces & nephews, and grand nieces & grand nephews. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St John of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:30 to 1130 AM. Interment will follow at St Mary's Cemetery, 1056 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204.
