Obituary of Wesley A Donahue

Wesley Arthur Donahue, age 91, of Wildwood (formerly of Pennsauken) passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 at North Cape Center after a brief illness. A beer in his hand, a bow-tie on his neck, and always a story to tell, Wesley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Wes was born January 26, 1923 in Merchantville, NJ to Irvine and Esther Donahue. He graduated from Merchantville High School, Class of 42, where he excelled in athletics. Wes was a varsity letter recipient in basketball and baseball. Some of his most memorable stories to share were from his high school glory days. He also was an alumnus of Brown Prep and then joined the US Navy, serving in the Philippine Islands during World War II. After the war, he also matriculated at Waynesburg College (PA), where he met Mary Lou Bennett. Wes was a long time regional sales person for the JE Fricke Company of Philadelphia, which subsequently became the Frank Winnie Company. He was married to his wonderful wife Mary Lou for 56 years and she predeceased him in 2007. Wes is survived by his children: Lou Anne (George) Gable, Dawn (Ed) Friedland, Wesley Donahue, Jr., and David Donahue. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Wesley Nicholas Donahue, Lesley Anne Gable, Katie Rachael (Cole) Woodson, Laura Bess Gable, Shannon Catherine Donahue, and great grandson Andrew Logan Arroyo. A memorial service will be scheduled for 2015. Interment will be in the Veteran's section of the Cold Spring Presbyterian Cemetery. We will miss your smile and big heart!
