Robert C. Smith,Sr. age 67, of Lower Township passed away suddenly Saturday, December 6, 2014 at his home. Robert was born in Camden, but lived his entire life in the Cape May area. He was the owner and founder of RCS & Sons Construction. Robert served his country in the US Navy from 1966 to 1971 and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a past president of the Lower Township Rotary, was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans of Del Haven Chapter #44, an avid hunter, a member of the Bayshore Sportsman's Club Inc., and a life member of the NRA. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Vincent and Martha Smith and his brothers Vincent Smith, Jr. and Frederick Smith. He is survived by his wife Joanne (nee Franco) Smith; his sons: Robert C Smith, Jr., Charles D Smith, & Kevin M Smith; his sister Patricia (Dale) McElfresh; and his brother Roger (Barbara) Smith. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Robert C Smith III, Branden Smith, Hunter Smith & Ethan Smith along with many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204. The family suggests donations in Robert's memory to the DAV Chapter #44, Del Haven, NJ 08251.
