Carmela M. Cancila, age 92, of North Cape May passed away peacefully Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Crest Haven Nursing Home. Carmela was born in Philadelphia, PA and has been a Cape May area resident since 1984. She enjoyed the beach, playing cards, wintering in Ormond Beach, FL, and being hospitable to all. Carmela was predeceased by her husband, Rosario "Sam" Cancila in 2009 and one grandson William Gahagan. She is survived by her children: Maryann (Bill) Gahagan, Anthony (Mary Ann) Cancila, Raymond (Andrea) Cancila, and Donna (Robert) Cancila-Keating. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Sharon, Anthony, Donna, Dianna, Anthony, Steve, Nick, & Raymond; along with four great grandchildren and one on the way. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Monday, October 6, 2014 at St John Neumann Parish, St John of God Church, 680 Townbank Road, N. Cape May. Friend will be received at the church from 10 to 11 AM. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Cold Spring.
