William R Lucas "Bill", age 77, of North Cape May passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Atlantic City Medical Center of Atlantic City, NJ. William was born July 14, 1937 in Perth Amboy, NJ and has been a Cape May area resident since 1966. He is the son of the late William and the late Mary (Malick) Lucas. Bill was a graduate of Seton Hall Prep School in South Orange, NJ. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Nebraska. Bill served his country in the US Marine Corps for four years and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was an art teacher for the Middle Township School District for 36 years and a soccer coach for the High School for twenty years. Bill was inducted into the NJ Soccer Scholastic Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2002. He served on the Lower Cape May Regional Board of Education for 6 years. Bill was member of St John of God RC Church where he served for many years as the CYO Director. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Moroney Assembly of Wildwood, and a 3rd Degree member of the Stella Maris Council 3546 of Erma. Bill is survived by his wife: Kathleen (Lynch) Lucas; four sons: Joseph (Marci) Lucas of Davie, FL, Brian (Maria) Lucas of Pilesgrove, NJ, Gary Lucas of North Cape May, NJ, & Matthew Lucas of North Cape May, NJ; and one sister: Shirley (Charles) Siberling. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Jason, Samantha, Cole, Bella, & Bailey. There will be visitation from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St John of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204. Interment will follow at St Mary's Cemetery, 1056 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204.
