James A McCorkel, Sr., age 66, of Erma passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Court House Convalescent Center. James was born June 3, 1948 in Cape May and has been a life-long area resident. He is the son of the late George W McCorkel and the late Sarah Ludlam. James served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a Commercial Fisherman and worked as a mechanic for Holly Beach Masonry in Wildwood. James was a member of the Villas VFW Post #5343 and a former member of the Marine Corps league. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Mary (nee Murphy) McCorkel of Erma; his son James (Heather) A McCorkel, Jr. of Villas; and his daughter Megan (Richard) D'Amico of Villas. Also surviving are his sister Stefani (Gordon) Tosto and six grandchildren: Marissa, Makenzie, Madison, Ava James, Colton, & Madden. He was preceded in death by his brother George McCorkel. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 25. 2014 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
