Edward Joseph Reilly, age 95, of Rio Grande passed away peacefully Sunday, May 25, 2014 at his home. Edward was born December 31, 1918 in South River, NJ, formerly lived in Pennsauken, NJ, and has been a Cape May area resident since 1980. He is the son of the late Patrick A and the late Martha (Freehan) Reilly. He retired as a Supervisor/Chemist after 42 years working for DuPont Chemical Co in Parlin, NJ and Philadelphia, PA. Edward was a Founding and Charter Member of the Pennsauken First Aid Squad serving for 16 years as a first responder, Captain of the Squad, and President of the First Aid Squad. He pioneered many innovative and life saving techniques in the field of Emergency Medicine earning him many awards and accolades. He was a former General Manager of the Rio Grande Mobile Home Park, was a member of the Villas Fishing Club, a member of the North Wildwood Moose Lodge #585, and a proud member and treasurer of the Championship Villas Dart Team. Edward was a former member of St Peter's RC Church of Merchantville, NJ and a current member of St Raymond's RC Church of Villas. His hobbies included darts and playing 500 Rummy with his daughter Rita Lee (who we all know cheats). Edward always enjoyed his Scotch neat and an occasional cigar to ponder the world. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Rita U. (nee Moran) Reilly; his daughter Rita Lee Miller (Frank) of Pennsauken, NJ; his son Edward (Doris) Reilly of Rogers, AR; and son Kevin (Debra) Reilly of Collierville, TN. Also surviving are his sister Marion Ternyila of South River, NJ; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
