Robert Christopher Obermeier, age 86, of North Cape May, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Robert was born in Philadelphia, PA. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1951-1955. After working as a machinist in Philadelphia, Bob and Miriam moved to Townbank in 1964 to what he called God's Country. After working for Mitnick Development, he started Town Bank Builders in 1970. Bob was a past Director, Vice President, and President of the Lower Township Chamber of Commerce; and a member of the Fishing Club, VFW, and Moose Lodge. His hobbies were making jewelry, watching Samantha Brown on the Travel Channel, country western dancing, but most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his sisters: Eleanor McDaniels & Louise McNally. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 66 years: Miriam (Glaum); his brother George Obermeier; his son Robert H Obermeier & daughter-in-law Denise (Franklin); his son Gary G Obermeier & daughter-in-law Carol (Boyer); and his son Scott James Obermeier & daughter-in-law Melissa (Miley). Also surviving are his grandchildren: Robert C Obermeier 2nd, Brandon J Obermeier, Lindsay C Obermeier, and Leah M Obermeier. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations in Robert's memory to the Alzeheimer's foundation of your choice at www.alz.org.
