My son attended Coastal with Hayden. While I haven't personally met him, my son told me great things. The loss is enormous and I'm praying for you every single day. May Hayden's memory be a blessing.

I’ve been coaching a long time since I was 17 and 18 years old and as any coach can tell you, there’s always some players and teams that stay with you forever. The first basketball team I ever coached in Lower Township is just one of those teams. All of those kids are either freshman in college now or seniors in high school and every time I see one of them, they wave to me, come up to me and talk to me, smile and say hello. And even with the job I do, they will still do it, even if I’m in uniform.
Hayden Schoefield was on that team and was one of those kids. I was lucky to coach him if only for a few years but over the years, I saw him often and he always stopped to talk to me and discuss what was going on in his life and what he was doing, and I would try to sway him back to basketball. He was one of my kids, I see all of them that way, and always want for them to do well and succeed in anything they choose not just sports. As a coach you are proud of your players as though they are your own children. When I became the SRO at the high school, and we saw each other in the main office or the hallway we would wave hello or talk. The moment I heard of Hayden’s passing, I cried. But not for me, I cried for Hayden. For the life cut short for all the things he won’t do now, for all the years he misses out on. He was only 17, his life hadn’t even begun yet. He had the best smile as a kid and as he grew , it never changed. It was like he had a secret that he was going to tell you every time he saw you. I can honestly say that each and every single time I saw him, I smiled. I was always, always, happy to see him. I will miss that smile and seeing his face around town. Rest easy sweet boy, you have no idea how much you were loved and will be missed❤️ Coach Jenn Anzelone (Elwell)

Q: What 3 words best describe Hayden and why?
A: He was brave, Funny, and so kind. I’ll never forget how hard he made me laugh and all the funny things he did. Anytime we were at wawa you would always ask me to buy you a pepperoni pizza lunchable and a vanilla milkshake and a Mountain Dew. He was always so kind to the people around him and he was so brave. i’ll never forget the time i fell on my longboard lol and he was the first person to make sure i was okay. you will forever live on and you will be missed by many.❤️

In middle school Hayden and I shared lockers, this was because his was a personal closet! Always having at least 4 pairs of shoes, 5 hoodies, pants, and countless colognes. Leaving his class materials in mine. He always had a smile. His goal by the end of the year was to leave dents in his locker to make his mark. Lunches and afternoons punching away sparing with the locker, I’d tell him to quit while he was ahead before he seriously messes up his hand, but he’d never listen, and then one day he finnaly got those dents he wanted! Hayden was never the type to give up, he was determined big and small, and always did it with a good attitude. Love you Hayden, the world misses you.
