John T Duffy, age 76 - Devoted and loving husband of Sophia (nee Smith) passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025.
John was born and raised in Southwest Philadelphia, he was a member of St. Barnabas Parish where he served as an Altar Boy.
John was also a proud West Catholic Burrs Alumni (Class of 1966) and has been residing in North Cape May for over 20 years.
John loved his sports! He played in numerous football and softball leagues before hanging up his cleats at the age of 51.
He was a diehard Eagles fan along with his "Fighting Irish" Notre Dame and Philadelphia Phillies, John could often be found watching the games at the Greater Cape May Elks #2839 where he was a long-time member.
John was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Prior to retiring to the shore, John worked as an electrician in various positions at PECO.
Those that knew John will remember him as being a "Good Guy", generous and an awesome friend who was always willing to help anyone who needed it. If you were lucky enough to be John's friend, you had a friend for life.
He was a loving son of the late Thomas and Margaret (nee Rooney) Duffy.
Beloved father of Michael Duffy, Kelly Russo (Steve), Alyson Naegele(Timothy), Alan H. Storti (Bree), Sylvia McAnany (Jimmy), Yvette Nicewinter (Steve), Danielle Fisher and Anthony Fermane. Cherished grandfather of Logan, Sienna, Alan, Hannah, Emily, T.J., Lincoln, Joe, Michael, Paul, Mia, Paul, and Sean. He adored his great-grandchildren Adilyn, Isla Ruby, Michael and Ryker.
Cherished "Brother" of Marie Hearty (Tom), Janice MacDonald (Ed) and Debra Fitzmaurice (Jack).
Awesome Brother-In-Law of Howard Smith (Connie), Catherine Smith, Agnes Smith and Geraldine Smith Guilliams (John).
Cool and fun-loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends are invited to pay their respects and wear Eagles attire on Thursday evening January 23rd from 6 to 8PM at Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Road North Cape May NJ and again Friday morning from 9 to 10:30AM at the Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 24th at 11AM at the Parish of St John Neumann Parish Church of St John of God 680 Townbank Road North Cape May NJ 08204. Interment with Military Honors will be held on the grounds of the Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery.
