Robert T Austin Obituary

Robert T. Austin, 88, North Cape May, passed away September 25, 2024 at Cape Regional Medical Center-Cooper. Robert lived in the Cape May County area since 1986 and was formerly from Philadelphia. He served in the US Army Reserve from 1959 until 1965 as a PFC. In 1961 he was called up for the Berlin Airlift and served 10 months during active duty during the Berlin Crisis. He retired as a police officer from the City of Philadelphia where he served the city from 1960-1981. He was a member of St. John Neuman Parish, North Cape May.


He was preceded in death by the love of his life, the late Margaret Ann (Tomczak) on October 5, 2022; his parents John and Alice (Searle) Austin; brothers Joseph, Steven and John; and sister Mary McDermott.


Robert is survived by his children son Brian Austin and his former wife Kimberly Austin and their sons Brian and Shayne, great grandson Finely Seth Austin and his mother Ava Phillips; son Robert Austin; daughter Lisa Warme and her husband Stephen Callaghan and her children Megan and Austin.


Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11AM Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Parish of St. John Neumann Church of St. John of God, 680 Townbank Rd. North Cape May NJ 08204. Family and friends may call at the church from 10-11am. Interment with Military honors will be held at Cape May County Veterans Cemetery following the Mass.
