Obituary of Michael P. Regosch

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael P. "Rego" Regosch, 75, of Wildwood Crest, NJ, passed away on Sunday, 4 August 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael was a former resident of Northeast Philadelphia, attending Saint Timothy's Parish grade school and Father Judge High School, Class of 1966. Following his graduation from Father Judge, Michael served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Torpedoman during the Vietnam era of 1966-1970. This is where "Rego" would begin his love affair with the open sea, a passion that would last a lifetime. After serving his country, Michael became a member of the Wildwood Beach Patrol (WBP) and continued to serve as Chair of the WBP Alumni Association until his untimely passing. Michael worked in the Restaurant & Banquet industry, primarily with the Hershey Hotel Corporation, throughout managing hundreds of banquets and weddings during his tenure. However, Michael would always return to his first love of ocean lifeguarding in Wildwood, following a lifetime passion to serve, protect and teach ocean safety and awareness. Known everywhere on the island as Rego, his unwavering support for neighboring beach patrols, local charities and non-profits was well known and recognized. As the WBP Alumni Association leader, especially important to Rego were the local Wildwood High and Wildwood Catholic sports teams, often in need of equipment due to limited budgets. Michael would adopt the Wildwood Catholic swim team as they became a direct feeder source for local beach patrols. Michael will be best known and remembered, however, for his unique ability to keep a band of WBP Alumni Brothers from the 70's together over the years, running annual reunions to Key West, FL, September Splash' events in Wildwood, and numerous gatherings to share memories, laughs and stories that got even better as the years would pass. As a resident of St. Paul Avenue in Wildwood Crest, Michael would lead a pack of avid body surfers known as the "Saint Paul Wave Riders", craving the wave and riding the tide in all kinds of weather and surf conditions. Residents and vacationers of St. Paul Avenue will miss Michael's passion for teaching others to ride waves and sharing his knowledge of ocean tides, currents and wind conditions. An avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies sports fan, Michael was a popular figure outside his home on Saint Paul Avenue engaging with hundreds of beachgoers every summer as he would proudly play Phillies games on his radio and keep others updated on today's score as they made their way to and from the beach. Born on September 28, 1948, Michael was the son of the late Paul J. and Margaret (McFadden) Regosch. Michael was also preceded in death by his sister, Paula. Funeral services for Michael are private, however, there will be a Celebration of Life for Michael on September 28, 2024, on the beach - water's edge, at the end of East 26th Avenue, Wildwood, NJ, at 11am. Evoy Funeral Homes, Inc. 3218 Bayshore Road North Cape May NJ 08204 has been entrusted with arrangements.
