Obituary of Edward Mayer
Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Born Edward Langdon to Frank and Ethel Mae (Hare) Langdon on December 31, 1946 in the small farming community of Jamison PA, Edward was one of 12 children. At the age of 39years, his mother, Ethel died due to complications of diabetes. Frank was unable to care for the children. All of the children, with the exception of the four oldest, were placed into the foster care system. Edward was adopted by a family and his name would change to Edward Mayer. He attended schools in Cape May County and after graduation he joined the United States Navy and served in Vietnam. While in the Navy he worked as a machinist. After his honorable discharge he continued to work construction as a machinist and even worked as a conductor on the railroad. His brothers and sisters continued to wonder what ever happened to Ed. It wasn't until 1994 that his niece Angela discovered his whereabouts and he was reunited with his siblings. He is preceded in death by sisters Doris, Betty, and Ethel; brothers Charles and James. He is survived by siblings Frank Demoreland, Helen Makrai, Ann Renz, Bruce Froehlich, Patricia Stout and Norman Large. He is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews including Rebecca Montgomery who cared for him during his courageous battle with lung cancer. Funeral Services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Evoy Funeral Home 3218 Bayshore Road has been entrusted with arrangements.
