Obituary of Leigh Ann Salvesen

Leigh Ann Austin Salvesen was born August 12, 1936 and died 6/27/2024 at the age of 87. Leigh Ann was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and attended the University of Texas. She won many beauty contests in the state of Texas. Later she found her way to Las Vegas to become a production singer at the Flamingo Hotel. On the advice of Burl Ives, who directed her to Los Angeles, she became an opening act for many great stars while living in Los Angeles, CA. She later toured the far east performing in clubs and entertaining our troops. Leigh Ann then met Jack Salvesen from Avalon, NJ who became her husband and manager. She was written up in Life magazine while entertaining our troops during the Vietnam War. After three children, she returned to her husband's home town of Avalon. Upon her divorce, she met Rocco Santore who then became her manager. Leigh Ann performed at the Holiday Inn in Wildwood Crest, which is now the Grand Condo, Enrico's night club, and the Grand Hotel in Cape May. She later became a real estate broker and sales agent. Of her many talents, Leigh Ann was also an accomplished artist. A mural she completed of the original Cape May train station can be seen at the Ocean View Restaurant on Ocean Drive in Cape May which was the original site of the train station. She is survived by her three children, sons John Salvesen and Christopher Salvesen and daughter Elizabeth Salvesen Jones and grandchildren Hunter, Erik and Kloe. Arrangements have been entrusted to Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Road, North Cape May, NJ 08260. Services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
