Obituary of John J. Heany Jr.

John J. Heany Jr. age 92 of North Cape May passed away on Saturday June 22, 2024. He was born in Philadelphia and resided in Northeast Philadelphia most of his life. John attended college at Drexel University. and Yale University. He served in the US Navy from 1955-1957 and was a member of the Navy Seabee's. John was a civil engineer for 37 years for the City of Philadelphia Street Department. He enjoyed gardening, Philadelphia sports (Phillies and Eagles) and golf. He was a member of the ASCE. John is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Helen M (Blessing); two daughters, Helen Mary Heany and Judith Heany; grandchildren, Aiden Heany and Zoey Heany; siblings, Patricia Gass (Bill deceased) and Carol Steiner (James). John was preceded in death by his parents Marie (nee Donahue) and John J. Heany and a brother Richard Heany(Cass). A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday July 8, 2024, at Resurrection of Our Lord RC Church, 2000 Shelmire Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19152. Visitation (9:45am - 10:20am) - Mass (10:30am)/Restaurant Luncheon (12:30am)/ Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA at 2:30pm. Contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
