Many years ago, I worked for a company with Marty! I was just a receptionist and he was so kind to me and made each day a joy! A special human being…sweet, gentle and a wonderful man! I’m so sorry for his loss and I’m blessed to have known him and worked amongst him. A gem of a man! My deepest condolences to his friends and family !!

Marty was an intelligent, friendly and optimistic man with a passion for life. Above all, he was a devoted family man. His wife, children, grandchildren, and pets were most important to him. Yet, he still made time to generously offer guidance, encouragement and kind words to those fortunate enough to know him as a friend. He did so with strangers he met along the way as well. His kindness and goodwill will be greatly missed.

Growing up, Uncle Marty was someone I always admired. He was married to my Aunt Catherine, and because she and my dad were so close, we spent a lot of time together. Whether it was Sundays at Nana's house or later visits to Mahwah and West Virginia, I always looked forward to those family moments.
Uncle Marty had so many talents. His knack for hypnotism always amazed me, but it was his guitar playing that really left a lasting impression. I remember him introducing me to Buddy Holly's Heartbeat—a song I still play to this day, nearly 40 years later. The suspended A and D chords were something I could manage as a teen, and they made me feel like I was really getting the hang of it. Every time I play that song, I think of him.
The last time I saw him was at Uncle Danny’s wake, and I wish we had spent more time just talking. But I’m really grateful I got to tell him how much he and your family meant to me, especially those times we spent at the house in Mahwah. And of course, I let him know that Heartbeat has been a part of my life for decades because of him.
Your dad was a remarkable man who loved his family deeply, and it was clear he cherished every moment with all of us. I’m so thankful to have had him in my life, and I’ll always carry those memories with me.
This one’s for you, Mel, because you asked. Love you, Cuz.

Mart Fernandi was the coolest cat I have ever known.
I did not know him when he was a very young man but I was taken with a picture of him as a young man on the wall at Doe and Mart’s Cape May home. He was leaning back against his motorcycle with the twinkle in his eye that he carried with him all of his days.
Even then from an old black and white photo you could see the fun loving, funny, steady, wise, charming, talented, intellectual, loyal, passionate….
gambler he was. The ultimate full house! He set the bar high as a man, a friend, a role model, a legend and the coolest cat. To know him was to love and admire him.
Heartfelt condolences to Doe and the entire Fernandi Family. With love, Patti Benditt

There are so many things that I have wanted to say that it has taken me a minute to actually make my way to the wall. Love and prayers to all of the Fernandis first and foremost.
Mr F was an amazing man who made a lasting impact on so many. His joy was palpable every time anyone was in his presence. He left me personally with life nuggets of snow skiing (for the first time!), the importance of engineering, a healthy pride in the F-14, respect for olive oil & parmesan popcorn and the balance of power in a marriage. I’ve known him since I became friends with Melanie in kindergarten and I’ve loved him since then. We are almost 50! May he rest in peace and know that this world is certainly better having had him in it.
Lots of love, Nessie (Not the monster-y one)
