Obituary of Charles W. Breakell
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles William Breakell (Breck), was born on April 5, 1949. He passed quietly at home on April 13, 2024. He was surrounded by his family in his final moments.
Charles, or Breck, as most called him, grew up in Wildwood Crest, the son of Moffie and Bill. As a kid he loved fishing and hunting, the fishing passion never left him. He met the love of his life in high school, Diane Hamilton. With the threat of the draft looming, he decided to enlist. Breck and Diane married and he was off to serve in Vietnam. As his military stint was coming to an end their first son, Frank, was born. They left Georgia and came back to Wildwood Crest. Four years later their second son, Jason, was born and they moved into their first home on Mimosa Drive, Rio Grande. It was around this time he got his career in line and went to work for Bell Telephone, and later retired from Verizon. In his down time he enjoyed fishing with friends, sons, and his grandchildren, from the jetties, the beach, and from one of his many boats. He even enjoyed fishing the local ponds. Later he began carving his own fishing plugs, a past time he enjoyed immensely. The abundance of equipment and supplies in his garage tell the tale. He will be missed, always loved and the fish will swim a little easier.
Breck was preceded in death by his parents, William and Moffie, who will be thrilled to deal with Breck's antics in the afterlife, and is survived by his loving wife Diane, son Frank (Lisa), son Jason (Megan), and his grandchildren Alexandra, Chloe, Jason Jr., Kayla, Kaitlyn, Torence, Giana, and Hayden, and his niece Ashley, who are still convinced this is all one of his pranks.
